The Rocky Mountain Grizzly Chapter of National Honor Society is made up of juniors and seniors who have a cumulative gpa of 3.7 or higher.  Besides working diligently to maintain their own gpa’s, these students support academic excellence throughout our school and community. The club participates in various service projects throughout the year, such as mentoring readers at elementary schools, tutoring, cleaning Linder Road, caring for the elderly, helping at the middle schools,  and working for the Boy’s and Girl’s Club and at Settler’s Park.  They also support charities like the Ronald McDonald House, Special Olympics, and the Boise Rescue Mission.

The adviser of NHS, who keeps everyone on their toes, is Mrs. Debi Weaver. The club meets the first Tuesday of every month at 7:25 am. in the auditorium.  This year’s President is Chandler Marchello.  Other officers include:  Ryleigh Moore, Hailey Beutler, Jillian Harmon, Sierra Pontius, Evan Bonar, Alex Lasure, Shelbi Cambron, Casey Robinson, Emilee Hardy, and Jessica Jackson.

Membership in National Honor Society is not automatic.  Membership is offered to qualifying sophomores and juniors on an invitation-only basis.  In the spring, all sophomores and juniors who have a 3.7 cumulative gpa are given a letter of invitation.  If they choose to, they pick up an application form and teacher recommendation forms from Mrs. Weaver.  The application, including an essay, along with 3 teacher recommendations has to be turned in by the given deadline for the student to be considered for induction.  Letters of acceptance are sent out, and an induction ceremony takes place in May.  All two year members of NHS who have met all requirements earn a letter.
