Head Varsity Track Coach Brad Abbott BS in Physical Education and Health Push Your Comfort Zone, is a saying that I have been using for myself and kids for many years. It means to never settle into a routine that is too comfortable. Always be moving ahead and striving to reach bigger and better things. I am a certified Strength and Conditioning Club Coach, and a Level-1 Track and Field Coach which has given me a background to train many championship caliber student athletes. Each student athlete that participates in the track and field program at Rocky Mountain High School will gain a greater knowledge of the sport, learn responsibility, and develop self worth and self confidence. They will learn these attributes by participating in practices and in meets. By being a part of the Grizzly track and field team, students will learn many of the valuable traits that lead not only to success on the track, but in life. In the classroom, high expectations are set for student athletes, not only on the track. Athletes must comply with all school rules and regulations stated in the school handbook to participate. Athletes must pass at least five classes in the previous quarter and maintain a 2.0 (C average) to participate. To ensure academic performance grade checks will be performed. Any athlete below a "C" during the season will be required to attend a 30 minute study table in the mornings until his/her grade has improved to a C. Players will not be kept from academic responsibilities by spending more time at practice than the scheduled times. No player will be asked to give up academic opportunities for an athletic event. It is our policy that each athlete is a student first then athlete second. For more information about Rocky Mountain Track contact coach Brad Abbott abbott.brad@meridianschools.org |
